I think music is such a powerful tool in raising awareness and fighting for justice because it is accessible for so many people as they hear a catchy phrase that makes them think. In Minu’s case, making music to fight for migrant justice presents the issue to his audience in a more digestible way than simply trying to give information out normally. The emotions expressed in songs and sound give a glimpse into the migrant worker experience that leads listeners to sympathize with them. This is similar to the Goffe reading in that sounds can be woven in to placemaking like the buildings where music was played in Jamaica. The ability for sound to be associated with a place, person, or thing is so powerful because now every time someone hears that sound they will think of what it is associated with, whether it be justice for migrant workers or another social cause.
